AI chatbot startup StoryFile has announced two installations of its technology less than a month after it emerged from bankruptcy
The startup’s technology is being used at the Museum of the Medal of Honor to create virtual chatbots of medal of honor recipients, with visitors able to ask questions and have real-time conversation with them.
The museum opened this month, and StoryFile said the results and response have been better than expected.
“It’s always exciting and deeply moving to see one of our conversational videos come to life in an exhibit,” said Andrea Csabai, head of studio at StoryFile. “Watching people connect on such a personal level, sometimes even tearing up, is a powerful reminder of the impact that authentic, first-person storytelling can have on deepening understanding and fostering empathy.”

At the same time, StoryFile’s technology is being showcased at the Walmart Museum. A hologram of founder Sam Walton is now on display, discussing the founding of the company and its values.
The hologram was previously held in the company’s headquarters while the museum underwent renovations.
StoryFile used Walton’s writings and speeches to create a digital copy of him speaking. Valorie Jones, StoryFile chief technical officer, said this use of authentic writing to inform the chatbot sets StoryFile apart from other AI companies, which rely on AI generated content.
“Asking ChatGPT for a personal story about D-Day may generate a plausible narrative, but it cannot provide the actual lived perspective of a veteran,” she said.
“In the case of Sam Walton, all his words and stories were taken directly from his recordings, letters and other writings, in particular his autobiography Made in America. Through our AI technology, Sam’s values and beliefs can remain accessible to the next generation of Walmart associates.”
Storyfile emerged from bankruptcy earlier this month following its acquisition by Key 7 Investment Company. Since then, the company said it is looking to expand the reach of its platform to more industries and further develop the AI technology behind its chatbots.
“StoryFile is embarking on a new chapter, advancing our mission to transform how important stories are captured, preserved and experienced,” said Denise Campbell, StoryFile’s chief operating officer. “As we enhance our technology and broaden our reach, we remain committed to enabling authentic interactions and immersive storytelling that connects generations, preserves legacies, and transforms engagement in education and business.”
